I was hoping June would be a relaxed month but that hasn't proven to be the case! I moved back to Minneapolis from St. Paul (finally!) at the end of last month, which made for an extremely hectic May. I took plenty of time off at the end of the month to facilitate moving, but next time I would do well to remember to take time off on the other side of the move, too, to help get the new place set up. By the end of the weekend I had the necessities set up: workstation and desk, couch, and TV. Everything else was left in the boxes I kept tripping over for the next two days. A friend helped me unpack and organize my kitchen, to whom I'm eternally grateful. Without them around I probably wouldn't have decided to get rid of anything, and they've inspired me to continue being critical of what I really need to keep. A big storm blew through the week after my move, and from what I saw it looked like my old neighborhood got hit pretty hard and it looked like my old building was without power; the storm didn't hit the new neighborhood nearly as hard!
It's nice not having to pay for each individual load of laundry again, and my new kitchen is far more functional and the old one; lots of counter space, cupboard space, and space to move around. The only feature that was downgraded is the fridge as it's not full-size, but I think I'll be able to make it work just fine.
I've moved most of my code projects back off of GitHub and onto Sourcehut again. In my opinion GitHub has been in a decline for awhile, not only because they're governed by Microsoft's AI team. In the last few months however the uptime and stability of GitHub, and any of its products, has been abysmal. As I recently briefly discussed the GitHub dashboard on the fediverse, I find it unusable and too AI focused. I don't use AI products very much and frankly find it offensive it's being pushed so hard.
Keen observers might notice the blog has changed recently too. I decided to give Ghost another try in a self-hosted capacity. So far so good. I don't have a ton of ideas or plans, really, for paywalled content. However I've always wanted somewhere to put more personal writings and perhaps that's the place!

Stay kind to each other.
